Do not think of today’s failures, but of the successes that may come tomorrow. You have set yourself a difficult task, but you will succeed if you persevere; and you will find a joy in overcoming obstacles.
Helen Keller
This inspirational quote has a lot of good advice. I’ll pull it out as I ramble on.
We should learn the lessons of our failures in order to do better, but then letting them go and thinking of them no more is a very good idea. Otherwise, we weigh down our minds and souls with these failures and little room is left for success. The failures can dishearten you and give you cause to give up in defeat. So learn, let go and never think of them again.
I’m not so sure about living in the future, the success that may come tomorrow, but I do know plans must be made for the future as long as you are resilient enough to modify those plans according to what is thrown at you. If I don’t do or make these plans, someone else will make them for me. It’s also better to focus on a positive successful outcome rather than more potential failure. You attract what you think about.
I’m not sure seeking success is a difficult task, though for some it can be. I think that is because of the beliefs they (and I) harbor that were learned from parents, schools, religions, society, etc. Maybe it’s the overcoming those that makes it a difficult task.
Perseverance is important in the journey to success. If you give up before you reach it, then you don’t reach it. Duh!
Is there joy in overcoming obstacles? As I think about it, I do believe that you can feel joy when you finally overcome something that has been holding you back. You do find joy in achieving your ends.
