Mike Brescia uses this quote to show that it is determination that gets you to your goals. He even says that 95% of the time that goals aren’t reached is due to the lack of resolve. It is only when you make the decision that the goal will be reached, no matter what, that you will succeed in achieving it.

Brescia uses this quote in much the same way others use Churchill’s “Never give up.”

When there is hesitation about a goal, when we are not fully committed to the outcome, then any little thing that comes up will keep us from reaching our goal. How many times have we said, “Oh, I didn’t think it would happen anyway.” or “I knew I couldn’t do it.”

Our resolve was not there. We had given ourselves an out before we had even started. If the goal is something we truly want then we must resolve to achieve it.

Otherwise you might as well not even start. This is something I need to take to heart.
