The lesson, or one of the lessons, from this inspirational quote is, “Pay attention!”  The first sentence also makes me think of the saying, “That which does not kill us, makes us stronger.”

Whatever is happening to you, learn from it.  And then put what you have learned into action to your advantage.

It’s hard when things are going wrong around you to pay attention and learn the lesson, I know.  You just feel you have to survive and get through it.

But, if you can be calm enough and if you can learn to really look at things, you will find something that will help you become more than you presently are.  I remember a technique that called for looking at a product, any product, and thinking of all the things that go into making it.  All the processes and all the parts and where they come from.  It was an exercise to get you to see more than what is just in front of your eyes.  It was an exercise to train you to look for something that you could use to better your situation.

This is sort of the same thing.  Take a look at what has happened in the adversity you face and find something, just a seed, that can be grown in a way to better yourself or your situation.  Maybe you can even find a way to help others.  That is something that I may just have stumbled onto myself.
