Obstacles are those frightful things you see when you take your eyes off your goal.
Henry Ford
I wonder if some people never reach their goals because all they do see are the obstacles. You do need to know the obstacles so you can safely navigate your way around them. However, it seems some people see the obstacles, navigate to them and end up wrecking on the obstacles in their way.
I guess this is due to all their focus being on the obstacles and forgetting about their goal. Which just goes to the point that we need to keep our focus on our goals.
Prepare for the obstacles you know you have the potential to meet. Have the utmost faith in your ability to get around the ones you didn’t know about. But keep your eyes on your goals.
I have taken to writing down every morning, not just my daily goals or the things I want to get done today. I also write down what I want from life, my two yearly goals and the two or three projects I have identified for this week.
I have noticed that even though I have been sick and unable to exercise for the most part, since one of my yearly goals, that I have written down daily, is to exercise I have been anxious to get back to it. It actually feels good to be able to exercise even the little bit I am able to do. So this writing down has helped me keep my eyes on my goals and seems to be working well.
Maybe it could do the trick for you. At least this way, every day, the writing keeps you goals in your mind for at least the time you write them down. If you keep the list where you can see it, then every time you mark off something you’ve accomplished today from your to-do list, you will see the rest of your goals from lifetime to weekly as well.
