No Equal Talents

December 26th, 2007 · No Comments

All of us do not have equal talent, but all of us should have an equal opportunity to develop our talents.

John F. Kennedy

We do not have equal talents. That should be pretty self evident. I will never be a ballerina or sprinter. My talents do not lie there. Although I was once an engineer, I will never be the engineer my husband is. My talents are elsewhere. Yours are different from mine.

Even where my talents are in the same area as other people, there will always be people with greater talent and lesser talent than me. It doesn’t do any good to compare myself to others.

What I have to do is work and learn to make the most of the talents I have. I must continually strive to develop myself in any area where I might have talent. I will find the opportunities to develop these talents.

I will work to improve my strengths and to make them the best I can. Every little thing I do today I will do the best I can. As I continue in this way, I will keep on improving.

One last thing - notice I am working on my strengths, my talents, and making them better. I am not working on my weaknesses. I believe that people do not become successes by putting all their time and effort into weaknesses. They do it by concentrating on their strengths. This does not mean I let my weaknesses control me, simply that I work to develop my talents.
