Wasn’t Franklin a wise old man?  How many time do you bite your tongue just so you don’t say the wrong thing at the wrong time?  If you succeed, that’s good.

What is unfortunate is that we don’t catch our tongues fast enough and that wrong thing just flies out.  Ouch!  How often then do we end up regretting it once it slips out?

There’s a lot to be said for Stephen Covey’s idea of developing a space between stimulus and response.  That space give us time to consider what we are about to say and what affect it will have.  Oh, how I wish I had learned of that long ago.

I do know of it now and yet, at times, I still don’t use it.  That’s because it still takes my conscious thought.  I will just have to keep working on it until it becomes a habit.
