Joy is what happens when we allow ourselves to recognize how good things really are.
Marianne Williamson
This is an inspirational quote I really need now to remind myself to look at how good I have it. If you have the capability to be online, you probably have it pretty good as well. Even knowing about being grateful and taking time out to list ten things I am grateful for, it’s easy to get caught up in the things that happen.
Like the phone call we received a few weeks back from one daughter crying and whining about the latest drama in her life. She is a perpetual victim. Nothing is ever her fault regardless of the bad decisions she has made and continues to make. Her whining was probably a not-so-subtle try for money based on past experience. She makes the mess and then still expects us to clean it up and fix everything.
But even with all her problems and drama, she has good things in her life if she would just see them. The same for me and you. I have so much good in my life now, it’s incredible!
Instead of being caught up in the drama and focusing on it, I need to focus on the good things and allow them to bring joy into my life. Again, it is a matter of focus. I need to add something to my daily routines, or rituals as Eben Pagan calls them, to make sure I do recognize “how good things really are.”
