Perhaps another way of restating this quote is that joy puts the zest into life. And how do we find joy? It’s in how we look at everything that happens to us and around us. It is what is in our minds as we respond to all that happens.

Do we look at what happens and moan and groan, “Why me?” Or do we get busy and do what needs to be done and take the lesson from what happened?

Letting the drama flow around you without touching you while maintaining a peaceful heart is one way to joy. It is a way I am diligently working on, even if my journaling sometimes doesn’t seem to reflect that.

One tool that is always helpful is to simply count your blessings. Be grateful for what you do have, even if it’s just the sun is shining and melting the snow or that you have somewhere to be inside out of the weather. Counting blessings helps you take stock of all you do have and that can bring joy just by making you realize all you have. It changes your focus to what is good in your life.

If you are reading this, you can certainly be grateful you have a computer available to you through which to access the Internet where so much help and advice is readily available on so many topics.
