I Will Make a Difference

April 7th, 2009 · No Comments

I will not let past failures haunt me.  Even though my life is scarred with mistakes, I refuse to rummage through my trash heap of failures.  I will admit them.  I will correct them.  I will press on.  Victoriously.  No failure is fatal.  It’s OK to stumble … I will get up.  It’s OK to fail … I will rise again.  Today I will make a difference.

Max Lucado - On the Anvil

This quote from Lucado’s book (which I received in my Insight of the Day) is much like the scrolls Og Mandino wrote in his book, The Greatest Salesman in the World.  You can check out what the principle of each scroll on wikipedia or Amazon.

The point is that each scroll is to be read two or three times a day for a month.  The above quote is something that could serve the same purpose.  It is by doing such things as repeating this quote several times a day, journaling on a quote each week day, and being grateful that leads to today being a day “I will make a difference.”

It makes a difference in my life and that difference will ripple out.  This quote has made a difference in my life now as I will pull out my old Mandino book (if it’s not in storage) and read the scrolls again.

As for the rest of the quote, it again reminds us to not live in the past, to learn the lessons of past mistakes but then to let them go.  It also reminds us to persevere.  We make mistakes but we get back up and keep moving in the direction of our goals.  It is only by continuing to work to our goals that we can make a difference for if we stay as we are now, how does that make any difference at all, to ourselves or to others we come in contact with?

Note:  Although I do plan to journal each week day, I presently have a houseful of family who have moved back to the area.  Between them and assorted activities brought on by Spring on the farm, I am having a few difficulties getting the daily journaling done.  This should right itself within a month or so, as the family members get new jobs and move into their own place and spring chores are accomplished.
