Maybe that’s where I’m failing.  I sleep too much.  I go to bed usually when my husband does as my office is in the bedroom.  Since he gets up pretty early for a workout and then an hourly commute to work, that’s pretty early.  Bummer.

I, too, don’t have any of the things listed in this quote:  superior intelligence, faultless looks, charisma, or extraordinary athletic ability.  I guess that means the thing that is open to me is to work hard, work long, focus and persevere.

I think that is what he really means by “…still working after everyone else went to sleep.”  He found the time he could work to achieve his goal and that was created by giving up sleep in his case.

Most times to achieve what we want we have to be willing to give up something else.  It may be watching TV in the evenings.  It may be going out to eat.  It could be a full 8 hours of sleep a night.  It just depends upon what our goal is and what we can give up to achieve it.

Are we willing to go the extra mile and do what is needed to reach our goals?  Am I?  That is a question I have to ask over and over again to daily reinforce my commitment to my goals.
