My greatest point is my persistence. I never give up in a match. However down I am, I fight until the last ball. My list of matches shows that I have turned a great many so-called irretrievable defeats into victories.
Bjorn Borg
I think what is described in this quote is more than persistence. It’s also about heart and attitude. Regardless of how badly a game looked for him, Borg kept fighting with all he had. He didn’t decide he was going to lose and then just put up token resistance just to finish the game. He still threw himself into it doing the best he could with his goal still being to win. And he succeeded many times.
I guess you could say he persisted in reaching his goal of winning regardless of what present circumstances looked like. That persistence also contained focus on the goal, the right attitude to keep fighting, taking action and never giving up till the final ball.
Why is it some people have the drive like that and some don’t? What is the difference? Is it just that one person becomes more on fire with their goal than the other?
Note: Yes, it has been quite some time since I last posted. Life has a way of throwing left turns at you when you least expect it. Hopefully, the new changes have about worked themselves out and I will be getting back to posting every week day as before. In some ways, I will be starting my own personal development again. It will be interesting to see what effect it has on the way I see things.
