This sounds much like the advice given to individuals who finally decide to start improving themselves whether it’s financially or otherwise.

If you tell the people around you that you want to become rich for instance, they will all of a sudden start telling you how you can’t really do it by whatever manner you have decided to pursue. And it usually doesn’t matter what the method is or how many other people have achieved success through it.

Strangely enough, many people listen to these unsolicited-advice-givers even though they are not rich, have not tried the method you are planning to use, nor even done any study on it.

Maybe the most important part in this quote is that whoever gives you advice most likely knows little to nothing about you and what is best for you.

You are the one that has to learn and practice to find out what is best for you. You are the one who has to find the method that leads to success in whatever you are trying to accomplish regardless of how many people fail doing it or even how many succeed using the method.
