Every memorable act in the history of the world is a triumph of enthusiasm. Nothing great was ever achieved without it because it gives any challenge or any occupation, no matter how frightening or difficult, a new meaning. Without enthusiasm you are doomed to a life of mediocrity but with it you can accomplish miracles.

This sounds a lot like “pursue your passion”. I do understand that if you have enthusiasm or passion for what you are doing or pursuing, it helps a lot with getting through the rough spots, with overcoming the challenges and obstacles.
If you don’t have some enthusiasm for whatever you are doing, you won’t put a lot of effort into it. You aren’t going to have the drive to push you through whatever challenges arise and you sure won’t do your very best on it. That enthusiasm provides the drive to keep you moving on toward the goal.
But enthusiasm doesn’t only have to accomplish big things. It can be a miracle to get the family all together around the dinner table at the same time to enjoy a good home-cooked meal. Providing for your family can be an enthusiasm.
So enthusiasm or passion doesn’t just have its place in the memorable acts of the world, of history. It has a place in the memorable acts of a single life.
