You never change things by fighting the existing reality. To change something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete.
R. Buckminster Fuller
In order to change my present reality, I probably can’t do that in my present state. It’s that present state that got me to this reality. No matter how much I rail about the perceived wrongs and things I don’t like, they aren’t going to change if I stay the same, if the model I work from stays the same. They won’t change if I don’t create something new, a new model of beliefs and actions.
The first thing I need to do is to take stock of the present situation and what got me here. What in my attitude, beliefs and actions makes this reality for me?
Then I need to decide what I don’t want any more and what I do want. It’s possible I may not even know what to change or change to because of my existing model of beliefs and actions.
The next step I think is to learn new things in order to have a basis for creating a new model. I can’t build something new with the old model which consists of the old beliefs, knowledge and actions. I can maybe revamp it somewhat but if I truly want a new model, a new reality, I have to build that something new.
What I see is that it is in my best interests, if I want a new model of reality because I am unhappy with my present circumstances, to have new experiences and to gather new knowledge. All that just might give my brain and beliefs the kick sideways that let’s me see new and different possibilities.
This becomes an on-going part of my life gathering new information and new experiences if I want to change things. To me, this means there is never a time to stop learning or stop taking new actions which create new experiences. I am an ever-growing, on-going new model of my own life.
