Sounds a bit like a threat, doesn’t it?  “Be careful what you wish for.  You just might get it.”

What you focus on you get.  I’ve journaled about that theme many times.  You see it in such books as “As a Man Thinketh” and in the movie, “The Secret”, with the emphasis on the Law of Attraction.

It all comes back to whatever you have your focus on is the thing you are putting your energy into.  And if you set your heart upon it, you are really applying passion along with that focus.  Presumably, too, if you focus on something that much you are going to take action to bring it into fruition.

Now this can be a good thing or a bad thing, depending upon how you look at it.  What I mean is, if what I concentrate on is all that can go wrong, which I have a tendency to do, then invariably something will go wrong.  I will be picking up the pieces and cleaning up the mess.  Even if it’s not what I imagined exactly, something will happen.  If I keep thinking about what can go wrong, I keep getting the messes.

The idea is that if I set my heart upon good things for me and mine, these things or something better will happen.  I think that it can take quite some time to turn the negative thoughts and beliefs around because it seems even if I focus on the good, sometimes life still throws left turns at my way. This year has surely been one of those with many left turns.  Who knows?  Maybe that’s the Universe’s way of sending me lessons to learn.

What I think now is that one good thought doesn’t override all the negative chatter going on in your mind that you aren’t even aware of.  It is a process to learning to think and focus on the good if you have been trained to see the negative.

Maybe meditation can help.  And being grateful is a good way as well. Then again, it’s how you deal with those twists and turns that matters.  Do I think how awful something is or could be?  Or do I think, who knows if it’s good or bad?  At least changing my attitude towards what happens is one thing I can definitely work on along with meditation and gratitude.
